How to make images in Claude

Claude can write, plan and reason about your project. With Depicta connected, it can also make the pictures: product photos, illustrations, icons, diagrams, slides and illustrated stories that match what you’re working on.

Before you start

• A Depicta account. Sign up — you pay per image from prepaid credits, with no subscription. See Pricing.
• Claude on the web or Claude Desktop. On Claude’s Free plan you can add one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner of your Claude organisation adds it first, and then each member connects.

1. Connect Depicta to Claude

1. In your Depicta dashboard, choose Connect Depicta to Claude and follow the steps there to add Depicta in Claude.
2. Sign in to Depicta when Claude asks.
3. Choose a monthly limit for Claude: €10 is suggested, any whole amount from €1 to €1,000, or no limit.

Nothing to download, and no API key to copy. You can change the limit or disconnect Claude at any time on your Connections page. Disconnecting takes effect immediately.

2. Ask for an image

Ask the way you’d brief a designer. Say what it’s for, the style, and any exact text.

Make a product photo of a ceramic mug on a light oak table, soft morning light, for my shop’s homepage. Square.

Draw a flowchart of our sign-up process: visitor, sign-up form, email check, dashboard. Flat style, our brand blue.

On claude.ai and Claude Desktop, the images Claude makes appear in a gallery under its answer, ready to download. The links last an hour, so download what you want to keep.

3. Use your own pictures

To edit a photo, combine several, or match a style you already have, ask Claude to let you add pictures with Depicta. A Depicta panel appears under its answer. The first time, Claude may ask you to allow it. Choose up to 10 pictures, then choose Add to my message. Elsewhere, Claude gives you a link to the Depicta upload page. Pictures you upload are deleted within 24 hours.

4. Tips for better results

• Say what the picture is for. “Homepage hero”, “Instagram post” or “A0 poster” tells Claude the shape and how much detail it needs.
• Ask for a set in one style. Ask for all the pictures in one request, or pass the first one as a reference, so they look like a set.
• Put exact text in quotes, and end with “No other text”. For small text, keep it as real type in your document instead.
• Edit in small steps. One change per request works better than a long list.
• Ask Claude to finish the files: remove a background, crop to a size, or convert to JPEG or WebP. Those run in Depicta too.

What it costs

Each image is charged from your credits at its actual cost, which depends on the model and the operation; our Pricing page shows the range for each model. Processing such as resizing or removing a background costs a fixed small amount per operation. The monthly limit you set for Claude caps its spending; a single request can end slightly above the limit if its final cost is higher than estimated.

Good to know

• Every image Depicta generates carries Content Credentials (C2PA), which record that it is AI-generated, and an invisible watermark in each file we deliver, except very plain or transparent images and GIF or SVG files.
• If you publish an image that could pass as a real photo of real people, places or events, say that it’s AI-generated. See Section 8.2 of the Terms.
